This project used to be called "Codename
Spotlight".
Newsbase not written yet.
What this is, who's been roped into it, all about the logo, ROSE FAQ, RISC OS FAQ, what it is, what it isn't, legal gubbins, disclaimers, illegal states of mind, preamble, post-ramble, travel scramble, location, map, train timetables.
Our name can be abbreviated as "ROSE".
At first, this project will not make money, and therefore will also not do much PR work. It will be setting up and networking-out projects. In order to properly get going, however, income will be needed. This will be through donations, largely the income of it's slaves, and then profits from some projects. Other projects will soak up the spare money.
The main project (ROSE) is simply a container for all the other projects. It is also a resource centre, some of which is automated. When money is made from some projects, it will be shared out with the other ones. The aim of this is to be sustainable and helpful, not to make masses and masses of dosh, although we won't grumble if that happens either.
One of the things we will be doing is selling our own projects; mainly hardware, mainly around a common theme. The simplest ones get out first, and generate money to bring in the bigger ones, and pour into the money pits. Some of the core ones follow a central theme, which are peripherals that enhance and are best used with, RISC OS. There's more to it, of course, but that has to be secret (sorry!) for now.
Networking is a peculiar term for effective teamworking, especially the communication skills involved (such as visiting a lot of Pubs). The team is everyone working for and supplying to the project. Each team member has skills they are best at, and things they need. All the work need's to be split up in a division of labour. The idea is to have each team member doing mainly the type of work they're best at.
This breaks down into PR, advertising, and identifying good markets, then constructing packages for distributors (shops) to supply.
PR & advertising say "Here's a great system", and say it at stalls in non-RISC OS exhibitions and in eye-catching ways.
The usual media releases and posters etc will be used as funding allows.
The manufacturing of products stamped out by some of the projects. It is the technical sense of production and distribution as a part of marketing. ie, Stamping out the things in the first place, and getting them into the shops.
